Workshops

Please note, these are both workshops reaching out to already skilled surgeons.

Localisation strategies for complex oncoplastic resections (Hands-on with models)

Workshop sponsored by Endomag

The introduction of oncoplastic techniques has increased and widened the possibilities for breast conserving surgery. In clinical practice though, surgeons face challenges such as irregular, multifocal, impalpable lesions and margin control. Successful localisation of the “target area” that needs to be excised needs to be accompanied by precision and flexibility, to be able to tailor it to surgeon and patient needs. The Magtotal technique is an established method to overcome these challenges, as recently shown in a large randomised trial.

The workshop will consist of i) a introductory lecture discussing technique principles and showcasing examples and ii) a hands-on session on models with easy and complex cases. Participants will have guidance by instructors during the workshop, all experts in the technique and will get live feedback and tips and tricks on how to get it done. Participants will be expected to provide feedback on their experience with the technique. The ideal candidates would be surgeons that could “go back home and do it Monday morning”, and we will welcome anybody with an interest in novel wire-free techniques.
The workshop will be conducted according a predefined protocol.

Intraoperative minimum invasive intact lesion excision for surgeons (Hands-on with models)

Workshop sponsored by Resitu

The Resitu device enables the minimally invasive removal of breast tissue under local anesthesia. The instrument is currently in serial production, with regulatory studies underway for CE mark and clearance in the United States this year.

This workshop provides a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the device through an introductory to the instrument and supervised hands-on trial of the instrument. See https://www.resitu.com/article/procedure for further information.

When you register for the workshop day, you will be able to attend both workshops above during the afternoon of Thursday 10 April. Please note that you need to register for the main two day meeting on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 April in order to register for the workshop day.
